Comrade Abba Moro, the Senate Minority Leader and Senator from Benue South, has stated that the National Assembly’s PDP caucus fully supports the party’s continuous attempts to restructure and reposition itself in preparation for the general elections in 2027.

This was said by Moro during his speech during the 99th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the PDP, which took place at Legacy House in Maitama, Abuja, on Tuesday, May 27, 2027.

“I bring you tidings from the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Moro began.

“Members of the PDP in the National Assembly are completely in tandem with the efforts of the National Working Committee, the Board of Trustees, governors, and other critical stakeholders of our great party to revamp its fortunes.”

Assuring stakeholders that the party’s lawmakers are still dedicated to the leadership’s plan, which consists of a number of strategic actions leading up to the national convention, he emphasized the unity and shared vision within the PDP’s legislative arm.

“We believe that given the circumstances we find ourselves in as a party, there’s no better time than now to line up activities that will re-assure members of the PDP, lovers of democracy, and the Nigerian people at large that PDP is coming back,” he said.

Concerns about recent party defections were also addressed by the senator, who acknowledged the setbacks but maintained that they do not determine the PDP’s future. He asserts that with structures across the nation, the PDP continues to be Nigeria’s most powerful political brand.

“While we acknowledge that the defection of senior members may pose temporary challenges, we are confident that the party, with its enduring ideals and vision, will emerge stronger and remain the party to beat in 2027,” he stated.

Moro reminded the audience that the PDP was established on democratic principles by a small group of visionaries without the help of presidents, governors, or lawmakers, and that it has since expanded to become a powerful national force. He exhorted members to believe in the party’s future.

“Given the antics of the ruling party to keep us down, we must remind ourselves that Nigeria deserves an alternative, and that alternative is the PDP,” he said.

The National Working Committee, the Board of Trustees, PDP governors, the leadership of the PDP caucus in the National Assembly, and other important party members attended the NEC meeting.
