PDP crisis: South-East leaders, chairmen endorse Anyanwu as National Secretary

Samuel Anyanwu is the legitimate National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), according to South-East leaders and state chairmen.

The decision was made on Friday during an enlarged meeting that included some party national executives at the Abia State PDP secretariat in Umuahia.

The South-East PDP leaders explained their decision to recognize Anyanwu by stating that the Supreme Court’s ruling, which they said validated him as the party’s legitimate National Secretary, must be respected.

Speaking to the enlarged gathering, PDP National Vice Chairman, South-East, Chidiebere Goodluck, urged all disgruntled members to rejoin the party in order to fortify it for next elections.

According to him, Anyanwu and other PDP leaders should be encouraged to lead the party at the federal and state levels since the PDP is a law-abiding organization that upholds the rule of law.

The chairman of Imo State PDP, Austin Nwachukwu added that Anyanwu is the party’s officially recognized national secretary.

He praised the Abia State PDP’s members, who were led by Senator Austin Akobundu, former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, and Chairman Abraham Amah, for their efforts to stay focused and united.

Abraham Amah, the chairman of the Abia State PDP, had earlier in his speech claimed to have a Certified True Copy of the court decision dismissing the state’s elected PDP officials.

The ruling will be appealed to the Appeal Court, he said.
