‘People of Benue, it’s time to defend yourselves’ – Apostle Suleman

Apostle Johnson Suleman, the lead pastor of Omega Fire Ministries in Auchi, Edo State, has urged residents of the state to take steps to protect themselves amid the ongoing violence caused by herdsmen attacks in their communities.

Posting on his verified Facebook account, Suleman criticized the federal government, accusing it of turning a blind eye and failing to provide adequate security in the wake of continuous killings in Benue State and other affected regions.

“If the federal govt knows it’s overwhelmed or its security architecture has failed, they should be humble enough to tell the citizens… Self-defence is enshrined in the constitution.. I said it when I went to Jos and Benue.. we can’t watch this continue.”

“PEOPLE OF BENUE, DEFEND YOURSELF.. What is happening in Benue state is evil, barbaric and a mayhem..,” he wrote.

The cleric also took a swipe at politicians who he said are more focused on the 2027 elections than the urgent security needs of the people.

“It’s ridiculous that people are thinking of 2027 whilst mayhem is being unleashed in 2025 on citizens they are supposed to govern.. what happened to your humanity? “There was a country…”
