Peter Obi clears air on running with El-Rufai

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate for 2023, has declared that he is more concerned with Nigeria’s future prosperity than with it.

This comes after rumours surfaced on social media that he intended to select Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, as his running mate in the 2027 polls.

However, Obi said he was looking pretty far ahead when he spoke with reporters in Gombe State on Sunday, just after donating a borehole to the ram market in Tike Pantami.

In response to a question concerning a potential partnership with El-Rufai, he stated: “Well, I’m more interested in Nigeria’s success today than tomorrow.”

“We are always concentrating on the election rather than what Nigerians are going through.

“My commitment is about Nigerians living in a better society, given a better life, and that’s my concern.”
