Peter Obi Reveals What He Noticed About Wike During Their Time Together

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Obi, has said FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, appeared healthier and happier during the period they worked together earlier in their political careers.

Obi and Wike had previously interacted and crossed paths when Obi was governor of Anambra State and Wike served as Minister of State for Education between 2011 and 2014.

During that period, Wike visited Anambra to inspect and commission educational projects implemented by the Obi administration, including renovated secondary schools.

Speaking during an online interview, Obi was asked to react to some of Wike’s recent remarks concerning him and his presidential ambition.

The former Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election said he had no personal issue with the former Rivers State governor.

He, however, observed that Wike appeared happier and healthier while they were working together, adding that possessing substantial wealth does not necessarily translate into happiness.

Wike has repeatedly stated that Obi would never become president of Nigeria.

Asked whether he was surprised by Wike’s comments about him, Obi said: “Well, if you look at the pictures of Mr Wike when we were moving together, you can see how healthy he is and looking very well. So, that means when we were together, he was a much, much happier person and enjoyed himself.

“But let me assure you, I don’t have anything against Mr Wike. He remains a friend and everything.

“Sometimes, you can have too much money and everything, but you don’t have happiness.”

As the 2027 election approaches, Wike has backed the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate and incumbent President Bola Tinubu, whom he also worked with in 2023 and under whose administration he currently serves as a minister.
