Peter Obi’s vow to quit the ADC coalition if he does not receive the party’s presidential ticket might ruin his political career, according to a young group inside the ADC.

According to a statement signed by Comrade Abayomi Bello of the ADC Youth Vanguard and released on Tuesday, it would be a mistake if rumors of Obi’s potential departure were accurate.

“We doubt that Mr. Tanko actually has Peter Obi’s mandate to say what he said,” the group stated.

“We believe that Mr. Obi has built a strong image as a leader who stands for principle, youth empowerment, and putting the country first.”

They claimed that leaving the coalition for selfish reasons would be inconsistent with everything Obi stands for.

Nigerians were also reminded by the group that Peter Obi had already switched political parties multiple times. They claim that switching from the APGA to the PDP to the Labour Party and now abandoning the ADC could lead to him being perceived as simply another self-serving politician.

Coalitions, they observed, require sacrifice, cooperation, and patience.

“If Mr. Obi leaves the ADC coalition too soon, he may lose the trust of his supporters, weaken alliances, and disappoint young Nigerians who already feel frustrated by divided opposition,” the statement added.

The committee suggested that Obi stay and take the lead internally rather than departing.

“He should mentor young leaders, help shape the party’s direction, and build something that will last. That’s how true political legacies are created. Anything else could lead to political isolation,” the group warned.
