Prince Olusegun Olawale Mosaku, a Nigerian living in the diaspora, has explained that his decision to sponsor free cataract surgeries, eye drops, and glasses for residents was inspired by a desire to sustain the philanthropic values of his late father and continue making a meaningful impact in his community.

The initiative, carried out in partnership with Eye Foundation Hospital, was in memory of his father, Oba Timothy Mosaku, the Olu of Arigbajo in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, who passed away on August 14.

Prince Olawale emphasised that his act of charity was a reflection of the values he shared with his late father, who devoted himself to the welfare of his people. He noted that “involvement in charitable activities could broaden perspectives, increase empathy and promote personal development.”

Grateful beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the outreach. Mrs. Oladele Deborah said Prince Olawale was “continuing his late father’s legacy of providing critical needs and welfare programmes for his subjects.” Similarly, Mr. Olatunji Oke praised him for “amplifying the late monarch’s philanthropic efforts”.

Chief Shakirudeen Olatoye, the Baale of Onipara and coordinator of the outreach, recalled the late monarch’s consistent message that “engaging in philanthropy can lead to personal fulfilment, growth and a deeper understanding of societal issues,” stressing that the monarch desired to leave a lasting impact on his people. He added, “Our late monarch held the belief that philanthropy not only benefits those in need but also enriches the lives of the givers.
