The Kebbi State Police Command announced the arrest of 165 illegal immigrants from Burkina Faso, Mali, Ivory Coast, Benin Republic, and Niger Republic.
According to the report, all of the apprehended immigrants lived in a three-bedroom flat in Kuwait’s Birnin Kebbi district.
According to the command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the arrests were made in response to an intelligence report that led investigators from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to find the persons from francophone countries residing in the small flat.
It stated during the operation, 35 Burkina Faso nationals, 110 from Ivory Coast, 11 from Benin Republic, five from Niger Republic, and four from Mali were taken into custody.
Preliminary investigations found that the suspects were living in Nigeria without proper documentation and were reportedly involved in the Qnet Ponzi scheme.
The accused have been turned over to the Nigeria Immigration Service’s Kebbi State Command.
