Police launch probe into attack on Malami’s convoy in Kebbi

The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed that it has launched an investigation into the recent assault on the convoy of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, which occurred in Birnin Kebbi.

The incident took place on Monday as Malami was returning from a condolence visit within the state capital. During the attack, multiple vehicles in the convoy were damaged, and some of his supporters sustained injuries.

Following an emergency security briefing with top security officials, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, addressed the media, saying, “We have commenced an investigation into the attack, and no arrest has been made so far. The governor convened this meeting to review the security situation.”

He further explained that the clash took place in the GRA area and stemmed from tensions between opposing political groups, which breached the campaign conduct guidelines set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
