The Katsina State Police Command has distributed a total of ₦10.9 million to the families of officers who lost their lives while on duty.
On Thursday, July 25, cheques were handed over to 34 recipients under the Group Life Assurance and the Inspector General of Police’s Family Welfare Scheme, which supports the next of kin of fallen officers.
Commissioner of Police Bello Shehu was represented at the presentation by Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration, Aminu Gusau.
This was made known through a statement issued on Friday in Katsina by the Command’s spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq.
According to the statement, CP Shehu expressed gratitude to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for his compassion and dedication to the well-being of police personnel and their families.
“The CP appreciated the IGP for his unflinching dedication to the welfare of police officers and urged the beneficiaries to see the gesture as a tribute to the sacrifices made by their loved ones. He prayed for the repose of their souls and encouraged the beneficiaries to utilise the funds wisely.”
Nuhu Bello Gohe, speaking on behalf of the recipients, thanked the IGP for the swift financial support and promised that the money would be used responsibly.
