The People’s Redemption Party (PRP) has expressed concern about the growing security threats and terrorism in northern Nigeria.

The opposition party also expressed alarm about the state of the economy, pointing to inflation and growing living expenses.

Abba Sule Namatazu, the party’s National Vice Chairman for the North-West, said in a statement that the continuous instability in several northern regions is extremely concerning. He said that talks with terrorists only serve to incite further bloodshed, and he criticised the Federal Government’s strategy for doing so.

“Vast tracts of productive farmland across the North-East, North-West, and North-Central regions remain abandoned, resulting in a severe food crisis nationwide. The PRP believes all stakeholders must collaborate to address this issue urgently,” Namatazu stated.

Additionally, the PRP opposed the federal government’s desire to privatise public universities. Namatazu emphasised the potential harm to the average person and warned that such a move would be fiercely opposed.

“PRP, alongside other concerned Nigerians, will resist any attempt to privatize public schools, which many of our current and former leaders once attended. This policy undermines the common man and basic common sense,” he added.

Namatazu also blasted the unequal access to education, pointing out that while many Nigerian children are left out of school and fighting to survive, politicians send their kids to prestigious universities abroad.

The PRP emphasised that taxes is a national problem that has to be handled carefully, while acknowledging the significance of tax reforms and urging the federal government to include experts in the process.
