Many have been enraged with the family of the late, cherished veteran actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, as they try to raise money for his funeral.
The actor’s family revealed last month that he will be laid to rest on June 28, 2024, following a five-day burial service. In an update, his family and friends on the central planning committee asked for donations from the general public to make sure he had a dignified funeral.
The illness that ultimately caused the actor’s death cost millions of naira, which is why the Central Planning Committee Chairman, Monday Diamond; Secretary, Christy Ejiofor; and President Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, jointly signed a statement requesting financial support.
As a result, the actor’s family has set up a GoFundMe campaign to assist with the funeral expenses.
Many people were incensed by the news since they saw how millions of dollars were donated to him during his illness, but his family still quarrelled over it for their own benefit.
“After all this money raised they can still do this?” Daddy Freeze commented.
