The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of David Parish in Abuja, has extended support to 20 Nigerian students under its scholarship initiative, reaffirming its commitment to education and youth empowerment as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Launched nearly three years ago, the programme is in line with the broader CSR vision of the RCCG under the leadership of its General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye.

In a statement made available to PUNCH Online on Monday, the church described the scholarship scheme as a “beacon of hope” for young Nigerians, fostering education as a vital tool for personal growth and national development.

According to the church, the initiative impacted close to 100 students last year, and this year, nearly 20 beneficiaries are receiving support, demonstrating sustained commitment to long-term empowerment.

The statement read: “In line with the Christian Social Responsibility (CSR) mandate of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), championed by the General Overseer, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the RCCG City of David Parish, Abuja, pastored by Pastor Agbolade Okenla, has continued to make remarkable progress in its scholarship initiative aimed at supporting education and empowering Nigerian youths within the church and across the nation.

“The program, which started about three years ago, has impacted many lives. Last year alone, almost 100 students benefited from the scholarships. This year, the church has continued the drive, sustaining the scheme and currently supporting nearly 20 students.

“This initiative has been fueled by the vision and dedication of the Resident Pastor, Pastor Agbolade Okenla, who has consistently emphasized the importance of investing in young people as a way of securing Nigeria’s future. His passion and commitment to the education of Nigerian youths have been a strong motivation behind the scholarship scheme, ensuring it remains a priority for the church.

“Through this initiative, RCCG City of David Abuja is not only fulfilling the CSR mandate of the church but also making a direct and lasting impact on the lives of young Nigerians. By easing the financial burdens of education, the program opens doors of opportunity, enabling students to pursue their dreams and contribute meaningfully to society.

“This scholarship program stands as a testament to the church’s belief in education as a powerful tool for transformation, while also reflecting the wider RCCG vision of service, compassion, and national development.”
