REVEALED: How all the hospitals in India and America rejected Mr Ibu

Emeka Rollas, the national president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), has explained the decision not to send the late comedy actor John Okafor, also referred to as Mr. Ibu, overseas for medical attention while he battled his illness.

Emeka claimed in a recent interview that hospitals in the US and India rejected the late Mr. Ibu because his condition would prevent him from boarding a plane.

Ibu had appealed to the public for financial support as the illness worsened. His family claims that although he had seven surgeries, one of his legs had to be amputated in order to keep him alive. The actor’s family had intended to take him overseas for medical care, but they never made the trip, according to a statement they released at the time.

“There was a time we wanted to fly Ibu abroad, but when we escalated the doctor’s reference and his prognosis, almost all the hospitals in India and America rejected him and said whoever has this kind of prognosis cannot survive flight to any country,” Rollas said in explaining why Ibu was unable to travel.

On March 2, Okafor passed away at the age of 62 years old.
