BThe Senator representing Anambra South, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, is dead.
According to a close source, he died Saturday morning in a London hospital. He has been in the United Kingdom since he felt seriously ill few weeks ago.
The condition became critical in the past 48 hours.The cause of death is not clear as at Saturday morning.
The business mogul, Ubah was the Chairman of Capital Oil, an oil company he founded in 2001. He also runs the Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation which engages in charitable activities.
His football club, FC Ifeanyi Ubah, was at some point the toast of soccer fans in the Eastern part of the country and pushed seriously for national and continental football trophies.
He was married to Uchenna, a graduate of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, with whom he had 5 children.
Ubah was elected Senator in 2019 on the platform of the Young Progressive Party, YPP, and reelected on that same platform in 2023. He defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, earlier this year and has indicated interest in seeking the governorship of Anambra State in next year’s election.
Ubah who once flew the Labour Party governorship flag in Anambra State in 2014, contested the same position in 2021 and came fourth in the contest won by Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.
Just within the week, he donated N71 million to the APC, Anambra chapter.
