Rivers crisis: Ex-Speaker Edison Ehie gets new appointment from Fubara

The newly appointed Chief of Staff of Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara is none other than Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie is the immediate former Speaker of the State House of Assembly.

As Chief of Staff, he takes Chidi Amadi’s place.

A few days earlier, Fubara’s ally Ehie announced his resignation from his position as Speaker of the State Assembly.

Recall that the recognition of Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule, as Speaker of the House, was part of the resolution that the parties to the peace meeting, called at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s request, signed.

Nevertheless, there was no provision requiring Ehie to resign from his House position.

This is the fallout from the disagreement between Fubara and Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The two have been at odds about who gets to dominate the political system and public resources.
