Rose Dung assumes office as 32nd Commissioner of Police, Special Fraud Unit Lagos

Mrs. Rose Dung has officially taken charge as the new Commissioner of Police at the Special Fraud Unit (SFU) in Lagos, becoming the 32nd officer to head the unit.

Her appointment comes after the elevation of her predecessor, Okunade Ronke, who was promoted to the position of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG).

The announcement was made in a statement released by the Unit’s spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ovie Ewhubare.

Originally from Owan West Local Government Area in Edo State, Mrs. Dung holds a B.Sc. in Sociology from the former Bendel State University, Ekpoma, now Ambrose Alli University.

She joined the Nigeria Police Force on May 18, 1992, beginning her career as a Cadet ASP. After completing her training at the Police Academy Annex in Kaduna, her first assignment was at the Abia State Police Command.

Throughout her more than 30-year career, she has served in various high-ranking roles across the country. Her past assignments include serving as Divisional Police Officer in Agbara, Ogun State; Commandant at the Police Training School in Iperu; Assistant Commissioner of Police (Administration) in Ondo State; and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration) in Bauchi State. Before assuming her current role, she was the Commissioner of Police in charge of Welfare at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

A seasoned and accomplished officer, Mrs. Dung has completed numerous leadership and strategic management courses. She is also an active member of international organizations such as the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the International Association of Women Police.

Following her assumption of office, she expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police for the confidence placed in her. She committed to promoting professionalism, upholding legal standards, and advancing the SFU’s mission of combating fraud.
