Rotary Club donates Solar-Powered sickbay to Primary School in Lagos

The Rotary Club of Ojodu, District 9111, recently hosted District Governor Prince Henry Akinyele and his team for the commissioning of a fully equipped, solar-powered sickbay at Agidingbi Primary School, Ikeja. This project marks the club’s first major initiative of the Rotary year.

Club President Martins Nnanna said, “The project reflects Rotary’s commitment to serving as a first-response safety net for children, reassuring both pupils and their families.” The facility is designed to provide immediate care for pupils who feel unwell or sustain minor injuries, ensuring comfort, prompt medical attention, and preventive measures against the spread of illness.

The Headmistress of Agidingbi Primary School, Mrs Oseni Fatimah Olasumbo, expressed deep gratitude to the club, saying, “Thank you for prioritising the pupils’ health and investing in sustainable, reliable energy for the facility.” District Governor Akinyele commended the initiative, describing it as “a bold, life-saving intervention” and urging the school management to maintain the sickbay in top condition.

During the visit, the District Governor chaired a board meeting with the club’s leadership to review ongoing projects, finances, and strategic plans for the year. The day concluded with the presentation of food items to Ozanam House, Ikeja, a Catholic-run facility that serves as a hub for charity, welfare, and community support.

The Rotary Club of Ojodu, guided by the motto “Service Above Self,” continues to build resilience, adaptability, and strong partnerships to uplift lives in Ojodu and beyond.
