Rotary Club donates E-Library to enpower students

The Rotary Club of Edjeba, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Carlton, Rotary Foundation, and Rotary International District 9141, has renovated a toilet and converted it into an E-Library, equipped with solar-powered electricity, at Edjeba College Warri.

The Governor of Rotary International District 9141, Chinedu Ikegwuani, inaugurated the library, thanking the donors for their generosity. “Edjeba College, Warri, will benefit more if they protect the library,” he said, noting that the donation aligns with Rotary International’s 7 areas of focus, including basic education and literacy.

Ikegwuani urged the school authority to properly maintain the library to encourage the club to execute more projects in the school. He also advised students to take advantage of the books and study hard to achieve academic success.

The President of the Rotary Club of Edjeba, Kenneth Okpiahor, disclosed that the club had previously donated science laboratories and a computer centre to the school. However, they found that some students struggled academically due to the lack of a library, prompting them to provide one

The library currently houses over 2,000 books, with an expected 3,000 more from international partners. Okpiahor stated that the club aims to create lasting change in their mandate communities.

The school’s principal, Mrs. Mayuku, represented by the vice principal (admin), Mrs Agbateyiniro Onajite, appreciated the rotary clubs’ kindness. The Chief Inspector of Education, Warri, Dr. Samson Ughejieh, and the Edjeba community representative, Hon. Terence Eriye, also commended the Rotary Club of Edjeba for their generosity
