The Rotary Club of Omole-Golden recently visited the Makoko Community Development Foundation School and Orphanage in Lagos State, distributing food packs and sanitary pads to those in need. This initiative showcases the club’s commitment to serving the community, particularly in the area of “basic education and literacy.”
During the visit, Club President Rotarian Jide Ogunleye delivered a welcome address, highlighting the club’s mission and dedication to making a positive impact. “Our goal is to empower and support vulnerable communities, and we’re proud to be part of this initiative,” Ogunleye said.
The highlight of the event was a talk on “Simple Hygiene” by Dr. Omowunmi Bakare, which aimed to educate and empower children with essential knowledge. The founder of the school, Mr. Urban Wheduto, expressed gratitude to the Rotary Club for its kindness, acknowledging the positive impact it would have on the children’s lives.
“We’re grateful for the Rotary Club’s gesture. This will go a long way in supporting our children and helping them thrive,” Wheduto said. The school provides education, meals, and clothes to children free of charge, and the Rotary Club’s initiative demonstrates its efforts to support vulnerable communities and promote sustainable development.
The club’s selfless service is a testament to the power of community-driven initiatives, and its commitment to making a difference in the lives of others is truly inspiring.
