Savannah Energy has taken a significant step in supporting education in Nigeria through its Savannah Energy Education and Internship Training (SEE-IT) programme. The initiative, launched in 2023, has awarded 100 full university scholarships to academically bright but financially disadvantaged students from Akwa Ibom and Cross River States.

“We believe that education is what unlocks our potential,” said Pade Durotoye, Managing Director of Savannah Energy in Nigeria. The SEE-IT programme provides full scholarships, covering tuition, accommodation, study materials, and living expenses, as well as leadership and personal development training and internship placements at Savannah upon graduation

The programme has received commendations from government officials, including Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, who described SEE-IT as a “transformative initiative” that aligns with the state’s A.R.I.S.E. Agenda. “We urge other corporate organisations to emulate Savannah’s gesture, which includes sponsoring students and promoting environmental awareness in schools,” he said.

The initiative also includes Environmental Awareness Clubs in 20 secondary schools in Akwa Ibom, promoting sustainable practices and environmental education. The programme has culminated in a quiz competition, where winners received cash prizes and automatic scholarships.

By supporting education, Savannah Energy is committed to bridging Nigeria’s education gap and empowering the next generation of leaders. With over 1,400 applications received in 2024 alone, the SEE-IT programme is seen as a growing model for private sector support in education
