A police officer accused of defiling a 17-year-old girl in Ogudu Area Police Command has been placed under remand in Kirikiri jail by a Lagos Magistrate Court until the matter is decided, which has been postponed until March 1, 2025.

This was announced in a statement released on Tuesday by the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, or DSVA.

This follows Tuesday’s arraignment of the now-retired police officer.

“The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), in its continuous fight against domestic and sexual violence, has updated the general public that a police officer, now retired, who allegedly defiled a 17-year-old survivor at Ogudu Area Command was arraigned before Magistrate Fagbohun, Court 11, on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

“Following his arraignment, he was remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Facility, and the case was adjourned to March 11, 2025, pending the issuance of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) legal advice.

“The Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has thus restated its commitment to ensuring justice and the Lagos State Government’s zero tolerance for sexual and domestic violence of all kinds.

” The agency urged everyone to partner with the state government to stamp out this evil vice, imploring everyone who sees something to say something, “the statement read.

Recall how a 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a police officer inside a police station in June of last year.
