A 15-year-old Nigerian girl who was coerced into prostitution in Ghana after being enticed from Enugu with a fictitious employment promise has been successfully rescued by Ghanaian authorities.

The inquiry started after the victim’s father, Ogbonna Onuigbo, reported his daughter missing in October 2025, according to a statement made by Beatrice Turkson, head of the Western Central Regional Police’s public affairs branch. When the girl called her father on October 24, 2025, and disclosed that she had been abused and trafficked, the situation took a serious turn.

“Police investigations indicated that one Golden Blessing, who is currently on the run, lured the victim from Enugu to Lagos under the pretext of offering her a cleaning job and later handed her over to Joy Ogbonna, who transported her to Tarkwa.” The statement revealed.

After arriving, Ogbonna allegedly imprisoned the victim, made her perform sex labor, and took the money. The victim’s communication with her father, which resulted in the rescue, was made possible by a “helpful passer-by.”

According to the statement, a medical report verified that the adolescent was five weeks pregnant when she was rescued.

Turkson disclosed Joy Ogbonna is being held by the police and will shortly be charged. She gave assurances that officials are attempting to capture Golden Blessing, her suspected accomplice, who is thought to be in Nigeria.
