After allegedly being beaten by fellow Nigerians in Ghana over a financial disagreement pertaining to a commercial transaction, a 19-year-old Nigerian artist known only as Destiny passed away.
Destiny, originally from Edo State, had moved to Ghana’s Volta Region to further his studies and creative career when the incident happened on May 28.
PUNCH Metro was informed by people with knowledge of the situation that Destiny was beaten by three Nigerian guys, one of whom had arranged for his lodging and assisted in getting him to Ghana. According to reports, the attackers charged him with embezzling money from a company they had introduced him to.
“He referred to one of them as his street brother,” said a source who requested anonymity. “They brought him to Ghana and introduced him to a venture. Later, they claimed he mishandled funds. That confrontation turned violent and led to a fatal beating.”

It has been stated that Destiny was left comatose in his residence. Days later, local officials found his dead after receiving a tip from worried locals. No arrests in relation to the case have been confirmed by Ghanaian police as of yet.
Another insider lamented the injustice’s protracted delay. “We’re calling on Ghanaian security agencies to act swiftly and ensure that those responsible are held accountable,” the source said.
Destiny was heard discussing his dreams. “I am Destiny and I am a streamer from Nigeria. I want to apply to Streamers University… I am also an artiste and a gamer,” he said in the clip, radiating hope for a brighter future.
With Destiny’s murder, the number of Nigerians who have perished overseas under suspicious circumstances continues to rise.
