After divorcing her pastor husband from the Redeemed Christian Church of God, a 31-year-old Port Harcourt, Rivers State resident is discovering that things aren’t always better on the other side. She thought the man she had left her ex-husband for was single, but she soon found out he was already married.

She added, regretfully, that she had left her ex-husband because she felt neglected by his excessive religiosity—he was always praying and fasting. She made the decision to move on, wanting more attention.

Feeling duped, she faced her new spouse, who acknowledged that he had lied to her out of love for her and pleaded with her to stay, vowing to look after her.

Having enough time and attention from her husband has always been the woman’s first priority in their marriage. She now wonders how a man who has two wives can provide for her. She feels too embarrassed to go back to her ex-husband, even if he is still single, especially because she left their marriage after only nine months. It also seems like a big deal to leave her current husband after just two weeks.

She is currently consulting marriage counsellors for expert guidance on whether to stay with her current spouse or go back to her former spouse. She has decided to share her tale anonymously on social media in the hopes of receiving help while yet protecting her privacy.
