Former Senator Shehu Sani has called on President Bola Tinubu to decline the proposal to rename the Abuja International Conference Centre.
The Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, had on Tuesday announced that the venue would now bear Tinubu’s name.
Wike stated that the facility has been officially titled “Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre”.
During the unveiling, the Minister also revealed that several other halls within the centre were renamed in honour of Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kekere-Ekun.
Responding via his verified Facebook page, Shehu Sani argued that the centre, constructed under the leadership of former Head of State Ibrahim Babangida, should retain its original name and not be renamed after Tinubu.
He wrote, “The International Conference Centre Abuja was built by IBB. The President should reject renaming the place with his name”.
