Shehu Sani tells Senators how to impeach Akpabio

Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani outlined on Tuesday the one and only path to impeach Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

According to Sani, a senator must start the impeachment process for Akpabio by speaking with his colleagues and gathering adequate support.

But if the attempt fails, he threatened to suspend the senator till the next election.

Posting on X, Sani wrote: “Removing Akpabio is only possible if a Senator consults his colleagues and gets enough votes to initiate an impeachment.

“If the plot fails, the Senator may go on suspension till the next election. That is it.”

This comes after well-known activist Aisha Yesufu demanded that Akpabio be impeached due to remarks he made prior to the start of the End BadGovernance in Nigeria protest.

Yesufu has said: “Dear Senators. “It is time to impeach Godswill Akpabio. It is still one of you that will replace him as Senate President.”

Her statement coincided with Akpabio’s declaration that they would be dining while angry Nigerians took to the streets to protest against President Bola Tinubu.
