Sheik Ahmad Gumi, an Islamic scholar, stated that Christians are undoubtedly victims of insecurity in Nigeria.

During an interview on Trust TV on Wednesday, the Islamic cleric stated that Muslims also experience the effects of Nigeria’s insecurity.

The United States government was also called upon by Sheik Gumi to honor Nigeria’s sovereignty.

“No doubt Christians are victims of insecurity, so are Muslims too. US have to respect Nigeria’s sovereignty. Nigeria requires foreign assistance while maintaining its sovereignty.

“During the Nigerian Civil War, Russia provided aid when America supported secessionists.

“It appears ironic that Nigeria’s foreign policy is now influenced externally. We should also look at the our own national interest,” he said.
