The Super Eagles of Nigeria climbed one place in the latest FIFA men’s rankings, which were released on Thursday.

This is the first men’s ranking issued by FIFA in 2025.

The West African team moved up from 44th to 43rd position.

However, under coach Eric Chelle, the Super Eagles dropped to sixth place in Africa.

Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, and Côte d’Ivoire occupy the top five positions in Africa.

The Super Eagles played twice in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers last month, facing Rwanda and Zimbabwe.

Eric Chelle’s team won 2-0 against Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.

They were then held to a 1-1 draw by Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

World champions Argentina maintained their top spot in the global rankings.
