Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has been encouraged by the Concerned PDP Youth of Gombe State to withdraw from active political competition and seek an advisory position in determining the direction of the PDP.
The call was made during a news conference held in Gombe on Thursday by the group’s head, Jamilu Adamu.
Adamu described Atiku as a revered statesman with a noteworthy legacy in the country’s political history and praised his important contributions to the party and Nigeria’s democratic growth.
He underlined the necessity of the PDP’s generational rejuvenation and counseled its leadership to provide greater chances for young people to join and make significant contributions to the party’s reconstruction.
“We believe that His Excellency Atiku Abubakar’s experience and wisdom can still benefit the PDP if channelled into mentoring and supporting emerging leaders,” Adamu said.
He said that the call was a well-respected recommendation for the party’s strategic realignment rather than an assault on the former vice president.
According to the chairman, the PDP needs to embrace new ideas in order to include younger voices in party decision-making.
Adamu urged stakeholders to strive toward creating a more inclusive, cohesive, and dynamic opposition that can handle Nigeria’s problems while reiterating their dedication to the party.
He continued by saying, “We hope that our message will be received in the spirit of progress and dialogue.”
