The Taliban Supreme Court declared on Tuesday that two individuals who were accused of robbery had been publicly flogged by a court in the province of Kapisa in northeastern Afghanistan.
According to the Supreme Court, each convicted person (name withheld) was given thirty lashes. Furthermore, two prisoners received sentences of one and a half years and three years respectively.
The complaint further stated that citizens and court officials saw the flogging.
Since the Taliban took back control of Afghanistan, public punishments for a variety of crimes, including robbery, adultery, and murder, have been reinstated, including whipping and execution.
Five persons found guilty of murder have been publicly killed by Taliban tribunals since August 2021.
