Residents of Kebbi State are set to enjoy a return of consistent electricity, as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has revealed that full restoration of power is scheduled to be completed on or before Thursday, June 19, 2025.
The state has been without steady electricity for nearly two months due to the collapse of vital transmission structures on the Kainji–Birnin Kebbi 330kV line.
Earlier, it was reported that two more towers in Galadima Village, located in Shanga Local Government Area, were brought down by a strong windstorm, further aggravating the power outage situation across the region.
To support some level of functionality, a restricted amount of electricity was redirected from the Shiroro Power Station situated in Niger State.
Despite this, households and businesses have been depending primarily on backup power options such as generators and solar energy systems.
In a recent statement, TCN confirmed that the repair of the damaged towers has reached its concluding stage. Reports indicate that contractors are putting in continuous efforts to ensure completion by the set June 19 target.
When the reconstruction is finalized, the state will be reconnected to the national power system through the Kainji–Birnin Kebbi route, ensuring reliable electricity for residents, businesses, and critical facilities a necessity as power consumption increases with the rainy season underway.
