Tears in Abia as tanker crushes fresh graduate after clearance

Miss Ezekiel Mary Ogechi, a newest graduate of Abia State Polytechnic in Aba, was crushed on Tuesday in front of the school by a speeding tanker.

Ogechi, who studied accounting at the Polytechnic, came to the school to complete her academic clearance before enrolling in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme, but she tragically lost her life there.

ZINGTIE learned that she greeted her classmates and expressed her happiness at being called up for the NYSC after completing the clearing.

A bright spot in her department, the late student was claimed to have achieved distinction in accounting.

It was discovered that she had previously been awarded a post-graduate course scholarship by an organisation.

Sadly, the source told ZINGTIE, “Unfortunately, she was hit by a tricycle while trying to cross to the other side of the road; before she could get up, she was then crushed by a fast moving truck,”

When angry Polytechnic students discovered that their beloved Oge was dead under the truck, they organised a protest.

The source went on to say, “The management of the Abia State Polytechnic and the Students Union Government of the institution saved the day as the angry students were begged to calm down,”

As of the time this article was filed, the Polytechnic has not released a statement regarding the development.

Additionally, the ZINGTIE sent a message regarding the issue to ASP Maureen Chinaka, the spokesperson for the Abia State Police Command, but she did not respond.

Recall that the state saw the crushing of a guy in his late 30s by a trailer late last year?

The unidentified victim was allegedly thrown down from a moving Keke NAPEP and then crushed by the truck in October, which led to the tragedy.
