According to reports, a 15-year-old girl in Delta State’s Agbarho Community, Ughelli North Local Government Area, sold her 7-year-old brother out to a guy.
The incident was made public on Friday morning after she was forcefully coerced into making a confession by members of the community.
According to reports, the father of the girl is from the Orhoakpor Community.
At Agbarhor, the suspect allegedly sold her brother to a Hausa man, stating, “I give them my account number. They say I should be going that they will send the money to my account before they start looking for the child.”
Anthony Oboroh, the previous Chairman of Ethiopia-East Local, stepped in and phoned the police to arrest the suspects who reportedly purchased the child, saving the suspect, who is a twin, from being set on fire.
In order to prevent the parents from losing two children, he pleaded with the irate mob that apprehended the girl to leave her alone.
According to reports, the seven-year-old youngster is still unaccounted for as of this writing.
The children’s mother and father refused to communicate with our journalist.
SP Bright Edafe, the public relations officer for the Delta State Police, has not yet verified the report.
