There’s only one party in Nigeria — Mahdi Shehu slams political class

Mahdi Shehu, a renowned public affairs analyst, has voiced serious concerns about the course of Nigerian politics.

He claimed that because politicians have made politics into a business, there is no true hope in the current political system.

In a press interview on Tuesday, he disclosed this.

Shehu maintained that the names of Nigeria’s political parties are the only thing that distinguish them from one another.

“There is only one party in Nigeria. And its always the ruling party. Once elections are over, politicians simply defect to the ruling party. We saw this when the PDP lost and many of its members moved to the APC,” he said.

He cautioned Nigerians against fooling themselves into believing that political parties stand for disparate philosophies.

“These politicians are the same, same background, same mindset. The ordinary citizens are just pawns. Go out and vote, do your part and leave the rest to God. But if you refuse to vote and later start blaming the leaders, it will only come back to haunt you.”
