A magistrates’ court in Kano, located at No. 47 in Norman’s Land, Fagge Local Government Area, has sentenced two TikTok users to one year in prison or a fine of N100,000 each for posting videos deemed vulgar and offensive to the religious and moral values of the state.
Ahmad Isa and Maryam Musa, both residents of Ladainai in Hotoro Quarters, were arrested by the Kano State Censorship Board and brought before the court.
The prosecution, led by state counsel Barr. Garzali Maigari Bichi, charged the pair with criminal conspiracy and the distribution of illicit content on social media. Both defendants pleaded guilty to the charges.
Justice Hadiza Muhammad Hassan, presiding over the case, handed down the sentence and urged the convicts to maintain good conduct moving forward.
