Troops under Operation HADIN KAI have successfully neutralized 12 fighters belonging to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during a series of coordinated operations across Borno and Yobe States between Friday and Saturday.
A reliable source within the Army Headquarters revealed this information to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Abuja.
According to the source, the offensive was conducted with the support of local security partners and benefited from intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) assistance provided by the Air Component.
The joint forces cleared multiple terrorist hideouts in locations including Tamsu Ngamdu, Dalakaleri, and Gaza.
During the operation, troops also seized eight AK-47 rifles, eight magazines fully loaded with 7.62mm rounds, and a variety of medical supplies and drugs reportedly used by the insurgents.
“The military authorities commend the resilience and determination of the troops and urge the Theatre Command to maintain the offensive against all terrorist elements,” he said.
