Truist Foundation, CDP Partner to Provide $20 Million for North Carolina Disaster Recovery.

The Truist Foundation, in collaboration with the Center for Disaster Philanthropy (CDP), has announced grants totaling over $20 million to support disaster recovery efforts in western North Carolina following the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene.

The grants, distributed through CDP’s Truist Foundation Western North Carolina Recovery and Resiliency Fund, will focus on revitalizing critical housing, small businesses, and infrastructure, ultimately enabling long-term resiliency in the region. The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina and the American Red Cross are among the recipient partners.

This initiative is part of Truist Financial Corporation’s comprehensive three-year, $725 million commitment to western North Carolina recovery efforts. The commitment encompasses grants, residential and small business loans, municipal loans, and community impact investments.

The September 2024 storm wreaked havoc on western North Carolina, destroying or damaging over 250,000 homes across 39 counties, resulting in estimated losses exceeding $53 billion.

“Truist Foundation is dedicated to helping western North Carolina recover from the impacts of Hurricane Helene,” said Lynette Bell, president of Truist Foundation. “By joining forces, we can leverage our collective resources and expertise to address critical areas of need, including supporting families with rebuilding homes and entrepreneurs with restoring their businesses.”
