The United Bank for Africa (UBA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) have agreed to deepen collaboration and innovation between both institutions. The partnership was announced during a meeting between the bank’s management and ICAN’s 60th President, Davidson Alaribe.
UBA’s Group Managing Director/CEO, Oliver Alawuba, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, saying, “UBA is proud to be home to a significant number of ICAN members, whose expertise has been instrumental to our success as Africa’s global bank.” He added that the bank is excited about potential collaboration in training initiatives and other business opportunities that will benefit both organisations.
ICAN President Alaribe noted that “UBA is not just a financial powerhouse in Nigeria but a global leader with a strong presence across Africa and beyond.” He expressed excitement about exploring opportunities for collaboration in areas such as capacity building, professional development, and business expansion.
The discussions focused on key areas of collaboration, including:
– Capacity building and joint training programs
– Promoting ethical standards, financial literacy, and best practices
– Setting up a branch of ICAN at the UBA House
The partnership aims to drive mutual growth and development in the financial and accounting sectors, benefiting ICAN members and the broader financial ecosystem.
