Following the regrettable assault on two of its supporters in Naples on Tuesday, Chelsea Football Club has released a statement. This incident occurred shortly before their UEFA Champions League match against Napoli on Wednesday evening.
The Premier League club’s statement on its website advised supporters making the trip to Naples for the match to “be extremely cautious,” given that the two fans are currently being treated in the hospital for their injuries.
“The club is aware of an incident that happened on Tuesday in Naples,” Chelsea’s statement partly read.
According to it, two supporters have been admitted to the hospital with injuries that do not pose a threat to their lives.
Chelsea also recommended that all traveling fans stay alert and follow the advice given before the match.
Although social media has seen reports of potential stabbings involving Chelsea fans in Naples, the Napoli authorities have not yet officially verified the cause of the injuries.
In the meantime, Napoli has seen instances of away supporters encountering hostility from local fans.
