UNILAG Makes History with All-Female First-Class Graduates.

Department of Mass Communication producing 18 all-female first-class graduates for the 2023/2024 academic session. 

This remarkable achievement was announced during UNILAG’s 55th Convocation Ceremony, where a total of 16,590 students graduated.

The ceremony saw 9,865 students receive first degrees and diplomas, while 6,659 were awarded postgraduate degrees. Additionally, 66 students graduated from the UNILAG Business School (ULBS).

The 18 distinguished first-class graduates from the Department of Mass Communication were celebrated for their academic excellence, hard work, resilience, and dedication. The graduates shared personal stories of overcoming challenges through determination, discipline, and effective time management.

Other notable academic highlights included Christian Uwagwu, the best-graduating student from the Faculty of Education with a CGPA of 4.78, and Ibrahim Sefiu, who achieved the highest CGPA of 4.82 in the Faculty of Social Sciences.

UNILAG Vice-Chancellor, Folasade Ogunsola, commended the university’s advancements in academic and infrastructural achievements. She highlighted the establishment of the MED-AFRICA GMP Laboratory, a groundbreaking facility supporting advanced HIV prevention research within the Faculty of Pharmacy.

“This historic accomplishment further cements UNILAG’s status as a leader in academic innovation and excellence in Nigeria and beyond,” Ogunsola said. The university’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation has once again been demonstrated through this remarkable achievement.
