Union Bank of Nigeria has once again demonstrated its commitment to youth development and education by sponsoring the 11th edition of the Greensprings Football Academy. The five-day football training camp, which recently took place in Lagos, brought together children aged between 5 and 17 years from various backgrounds to receive professional training from top international coaches.

The training camp featured expert coaches affiliated with the West Bromwich Albion Football Club, the Dutch Football Association, and the English Football League, as well as local expertise from the Lagos State Football Association and Nigerian football legend Victor Ikpeba.

According to Bukola Ayeni, Lead, External Communications at Union Bank, the bank’s support for the academy is driven by its flagship education platform, Edu360. “Union Bank is proud to support the Greensprings Football Academy under our Edu360 initiative, which aligns with our core value of being community-focused,” Ayeni stated

She further explained that “Edu360 is a platform to promote quality education, both formal and informal, including sports, in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 4 on Quality Education.” Ayeni also highlighted the bank’s 108-year legacy of supporting Nigerian youth and fostering future leaders through impactful initiatives.

The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Greensprings School, Lai Koiki, emphasized the importance of equipping students for the future, saying, “We are being future-ready. We are preparing the youth for success in football and in leadership.”
