Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has stated that the upcoming Unity Cup will provide him with a valuable opportunity to strengthen his squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September and October.

Nigeria, Ghana, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago will compete in the invitational tournament, which will be held in London later this month.

All matches in the competition will take place at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford, London.

Chelle announced his squad for the tournament on Wednesday.

The Malian coach included several home-based and fringe players in his lineup for the Unity Cup.

At 47 years old, Chelle emphasized that he plans to use the competition to experiment with players in various roles.

“We’re looking forward to taking part in the Unity Cup as it will give us the chance to try out a few new players in different roles,” Chelle told thenff.com.

“It will help us strengthen our squad before the matches in September and October.”

The Super Eagles will face eternal rivals Ghana in their first game in the Unity Cup on Tuesday, 27 May.
