University lecturer dies during sex romp with 200-level student in Kogi

Dr. Olabode Abimbola Ibikunle, a prominent lecturer at Kogi State University in Anyigba, passed away after allegedly having a sexual encounter with a 22-year-old 200-level student.

The hotel management later reported the incident to the authorities. It happened at a hotel in Anyigba on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

Gloria Samuel, the student, was arrested and sent to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for additional examination.

SP William Ovye Aya, the spokesperson for the Kogi State Police Command, confirmed the occurrence, called it regrettable, and stated that an autopsy had been performed to ascertain the cause of death.

Moses Friday, the hotel manager, told the police that the student hurried to the lobby to inform the workers that the lecturer had passed out following their encounter.

The lecturer was rushed to a hospital, where a doctor pronounced him dead, and the police were notified right away.

According to reports, Ibikunle, who was allegedly married and had kids, had arrived at the hotel earlier that day with the Social Studies Education student.

Unverified rumors state that the lecturer drank many energy drinks before the incident.

According to the police, investigations are still underway, and based on the results, additional action will be taken.
