US: Black women more likely to die from pregnancy – President Joe Biden

Black women in America are more likely to die during pregnancy than their white counterparts, according to US President Joe Biden on Thursday.

According to Biden, this has turned Black Maternal Health Week into an urgent call to action.

In a post on X, Biden stated that the inequalities the black community in the US faces are being addressed by his administration.

The US president claims that his administration is addressing gaps related to black women’s health.

Biden wrote: “Black women in America are 3x as likely to die from pregnancy-related complications than white women, making Black Maternal Health Week an urgent call for action.

“That’s why we’re using the power of the federal government to address the long-standing disparities that Black communities continue to face—disparities that directly impact the health and well-being of Black mothers.”
