Varsity Security Guard in Custody for Alleged Child Molestation.

Damilola Otegba, a 44-year-old security guard at the University of Agriculture in Abeokuta, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly engaging in unlawful sexual activities with a six-year-old girl. 

According to CSP Omolola Odutola, the Ogun State police spokesperson, the suspect left his duty post and took the child to his workplace inside the university building, where he allegedly committed the crime.

The victim’s mother, Sherifat Bakare, reported the incident to the police. She received a call from her younger brother, Seyi Bakare, whom she had left in charge of her shop on the FUNAAB campus after her daughter ran into their shop visibly frightened. 

The girl revealed that Otegba had taken her upstairs, undressed, and forced himself on her.

“He allegedly undressed by exposing himself, forced his manhood into her to perform inappropriate acts, and then took her to a corner and laid behind her.

“The victim emphasised that as she resisted his advances, an unknown FUNAAB female student, who was unaware of what was going on, entered the area.

“On seeing the untoward situation, she questioned the man about his actions with the girl. This led to the chief security officer of FUNAAB being informed.”

Otegba is currently in police custody and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation. 

The police are awaiting the doctor’s report on the victim’s medical evaluation. 

This incident highlights the need for increased security measures and vigilance on university campuses to protect students and staff, especially children, from such heinous crimes
