Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, a supporter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor of Anambra State, has denied the widely shared video that purports to show him being humiliated by Abuja creditors over a ₦1 billion debt.
The video, which went viral on social media, showed Ukachukwu trying to leave the Transcorp Hilton Hotel with his wife and little boy when he was blocked by a group of guys.
He owed them ₦1 billion, the men said.
In response, Dr. Justin Nwankwo, a supporter of Ukachukwu, characterized the event as “a poorly scripted drama sponsored to tarnish Ukachukwu’s image ahead of the November election.”
“When you see a staged video, you will know. The recent circulating video claiming that Ikukuoma was attacked by people he allegedly owed N1 billion is nothing but a poorly scripted political drama, staged and sponsored to discredit a rising force ahead of the Anambra governorship election.
“If truly someone is being owed N1 billion, is it on the road that they intend to recover it? Any serious creditor knows that such a debt comes with legal documents, contracts, collateral, and most importantly, lawyers. But here, there is none,” Nwankwo said.
The viral video, he added, was “a clear case of political blackmail.”
