VIDEO: Buhari has been responsible for the killing and Kidnapping – Solomon Dalung

In an interview with Channels Television, former Sports Minister Solomon Dalung praised President Buhari’s accomplishments in his first year, including taking on insecurity and recapturing 24 local governments. But Dalung denounced the emergence of criminal groups, terrorism, and banditry after that, claiming that the president’s pledges encouraged more aggressive behaviour.

He emphasised the long-lasting effects on Nigerians’ trauma from the past four years. He called for a contrast between Buhari’s early efforts and the worsening security situation during the latter years of his presidency.

According to what he said, “I can only agree that, I mean, in the first year of his tenure, the President engaged in insecurity and was able to recover about 24 local governments from Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe, but the subsequent development from 2019 until when the president left the office, we were under the rule of bandits, terrorists, and criminal gangs.”

“The president kept promising, Oh, we will deal with the situation, and each time he makes that statement, the terrorists become more emboldened, and they persist in their attacks. So I think additional evidence should draw a line between when the president dealt with insecurity and what happened subsequently, and Nigerians are living with the trauma of his last four years.”
