Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, is a controversial social media influencer who has accused prominent government figures, including Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the governor of Anambra State, of complicity in the death of Mr. Ifesinachi Onyekere, also known as Fish Magnet, who was recently kidnapped and brutally murdered by as-yet-unidentified gunmen in the state.

During a candlelight parade in Awka, the capital of Anambra State, on Tuesday, he made the devastating accusations in remembrance of the deceased businessman, who was the managing director of the Fish Magnet shop and an only son.

The parade, which started at Aroma Junction and ended at Fish Magnet’s office, attracted a sizable group of young people in mourning, the most of them were wearing black as a sign of their sorrow. Some government officials and security officers also watched the incident.

In a scathing statement to the mourning at the Fish Magnet’s office, VeryDarkMan blamed the nation’s security and political leadership for the young businessman’s untimely death.

Although he admitted that kidnappers were responsible for the murder, he maintained that public officials and institutions, such as Governor Charles Soludo, President Bola Tinubu, the Chairman of the Local Government, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Staff, are ultimately accountable for the crime.

Despite collecting taxes and having a wealth of national resources, VDM contended that the government was implicated in the murder because it failed to provide sufficient security.

Speaking before the procession began, VeryDarkMan also attributed the country’s insecurity and the late entrepreneur’s death on institutional failure, citing what he called “longstanding incompetence in Nigeria’s security system.”

Due to concerns that it would have political overtones, he also revealed that efforts were made to cancel the candlelight gathering. He further thanked everyone who turned out to join the parade, emphasizing that his participation and presence were solely humanitarian and unrelated to politics.

“I want to appreciate every one of you that took out time to come here. It is so sad that it’s not a thing of happiness that gathered us here, but sadness. But it is so sad that we are gathered here today because of the demise of a young blood like every one of us,” he said.

He said the parade was a request for increased security and government accountability in addition to paying respect to the late Fish Magnet. He cautioned that more young people would experience similar outcomes in the near future if nothing changes. Based on his own experiences, he bemoaned the many instances of horrific murders he had seen in many regions of the nation.

VeryDarkMan went on to criticize the security and economic conditions that still oppress young Nigerians. Using the late Fish Magnet as an example, he pointed out that the government still did not give him the fundamental security he needed to survive, even though he was trying to establish a respectable firm in an unfavorable economic climate.

He also brought up comparable disasters that occurred in other states, such as Enugu, Benue, and Plateau, where violent attacks claimed numerous lives. He called the crisis a national emergency and warned young Nigerians not to let passing fads divert or quiet them. He emphasized that in order to force government action, persistent public pressure is required.

The influencer also recognized the sacrifices made by security personnel, pointing out that because they lack the necessary gear, even military and police are frequently the targets of violent attacks. He described it as a serious national concern that requires immediate attention and questioned why terrorists and criminal organizations frequently have more advanced weapons than state security services.

In closing, he urged the people of Anambra and beyond to keep supporting the company that the departed left behind and to ensure that Fish Magnet’s legacy does not fade or die.
