Days after receiving a permanent tattoo on the roof of her mouth, a woman was taken to the hospital after contracting a potentially fatal bloodstream infection.

The woman, who shared her experience on TikTok, said she first felt bad about her choice but was unaware of how serious the repercussions would be. Just five days after the procedure, she began experiencing an intense fever and unbearable pain in her mouth.

“I got a tattoo on the roof of my mouth and instantly regretted it. Five days later, I started running a high fever. The pain in my mouth was unbearable, and nothing I did made it better,” she recounted.

As her condition deteriorated, her mother contacted emergency services, and she was quickly transported to the hospital, where doctors admitted her for immediate care. Intensive care was necessary after a battery of tests revealed that she had contracted a serious bloodstream infection.

Discussions concerning the risks of tattoos in extremely sensitive areas have been sparked by the woman’s story, which has since gone viral. She stressed the unanticipated health risks associated with such procedures and urged others to reconsider.
